In A Mood

S2 was in a mood today. He didn't want to run around and play which is not typical.

Instead he watched as T and I ran the dogs around for their exercise. He ended up having a fever in the afternoon and I am hoping that it is just one of those 24 hour bug.

In the meanwhile, I was quite productive this weekend to be able to be almost finished with the 4 stole Gator order. Here are 3 of them pictured.

Time with Mommy

T decided that she loves Saturdays as much as I do. She also wanted a project that she could do with Mommy so we started with the latch hook rug to clear away the scraps from the Gator t-shirt quilt. It was a nice quiet time that we shared together and how nice of her to tell me that she will teach her little girl the same things that "Mommy taught her."

Inspiration

I was passing by the plaza at the University yesterday and caught sight of red balloons all over a large area. It was so beautiful the way that it was just hanging midway barely touching the ground and swaying gently to the breeze.

Unfortunately I was already late to my meeting so I could not stop and find out the meaning of the balloons.

Right next to the balloons was the wall being built for the Writing on the Wall Project.

Finally, I restarted my "Points" Quilt again and this is what I came up with. I'm happier about this one and hope that inspiration continuous.

Baby, It's Cold Outside!

It was 32 degrees this morning on my way to work. Not a big deal for most of you out there but here in Florida, it's a big deal! I've made tremendous progress on the burgundy shawl/scarf and I've decided to keep it. This way I can wear it and market myself too! Like the other one in my etsy, it's extra long with a wonderful free-style design. One of my students was telling me that it is Rodarte-like. To show off the design, I've draped it on my chair here at work.

I've also started the beginnings of a new quilt of which is pretty ambitious for me since I have never done "points" before.

After a whole day of wanting to just give up and throw it all away, this is what I ended up with at the end of the day.

I decided that I don't like it and will start another one again. I'm being pretty choosy with my work only because I want to try and submit the quilt for judging at the Tree City Quilt Show. It'll be my very first submission and as with most quilters, I'd like to place! ;oP

Easy Way Out

So I should be working on stoles but I don't want to be alone in my studio. Everyone including the dogs are in family room enjoying the fire so instead I started a new shawl/scarf right by the fireplace.

I was able to make a Greek pillow though for K and I couldn't wait to surprise her so I posted it on her facebook wall. I hope that it was still a nice surprise.

First Listing

Yeay! I finished the tangerine scarf and thanks to A for modeling for me this afternoon, I am able to put my first listing in my etsy. She's a great model and she finds exciting ways to wear my creations!

I finally finished the Gator tshirt quilt for the P's also and now I can start with all the stole orders for this spring graduation.

I am busy but thoroughly enjoying "my" time.

Fundraiser

One of my students asked me if I can work with her in making a deal with my jewelry so that she can sell them and make a little extra money for her sorority. What an opportunity for me!! I quickly put together inventory and made some more to give to in her in set numbers. In the end, I gave her a total of 55 pieces...10 necklaces, 10 bracelets and 35 earrings. Here they are all bagged and ready to go.

I have also been working on the binding for the Gator tshirt quilt. It seems to take forever and the binding never ending!

Hopefully I'll finish it tomorrow to be able to start on some stoles that were ordered.

Ho Ho Ho and Little Helpers

Spikey our dog can really shred stuffed animals fast! This Christmas, he got to one of the Santas and was able to tear up both of Santa's feet. Santa sat on the couch waiting to be fixed until today. Here he is now all ready to be packed away for next Christmas!

Mom K also brought me another garbage bag full of scraps! Woohoo!!!

With all of the nieces around, alot of little projects are getting done! I've asked them to help me organize the stash by color: purples, reds, blues, etc.. Here's my youngest niece finishing up the last bag!

They're here 2 more days!! What little project do I give next!? =oP

Lee

My cousin finally sent me my nephew's picture on the quilt that I made for him! ;o)
She says that it has encouraged him to crawl... I hope that it also teaches him to spell his name! =o)

UFO #1

So I woke up early again this morning which was great. I've taken to sleeping at night almost the same time as the kids and so a couple of hours in the morning when the house is all quiet is definitely luxury time. In search of something quick to do, I decided to tackle my scrap piles which are starting to pile up around my sewing machine area.

Wanting to see results right away, I knew that the best thing to do is to make sense of some piecings that I have already done before and arrange them together to make a quilt. I was quite surprised how much I already had that went together! Here it is laid out on more than half of T's queen size bed.

Then I heard the wake up call from the hubby downstairs to start off the day. Knowing that I have more than a whole hour to wait this evening because of piano lessons, I grabbed my crochet hook and nearest spool of yarn... I wonder if I can finish a cool scarf tonite?

A Year In the Life Of....

With one of my New Year's Resolution in mind: "Have More Time for Me", I decided to also be more intentional with my daily blogging. Here's my thoughts, it's really a domino effect. This artsy blog is to document inspiration and creativity around my life and in order for me to blog about something, then I should also be creating. And in the process of creating, I find luxury time for me... So, here is what we did this weekend.

I finally made good headway on scrapbooking our holiday mail!

As you can see, there's 10 pages, 20 sleeves in all, all scrapbooked nice and neat for my 2011 book!

T made a mobile from her Girl Scout Lock-In which she said was a mobile about "feelings". Her mobile are her different facial expressions.

S2 put his birdhouse together that he got from Aunt M for Christmas and yesterday both he and his sister painted it.

I also took out my basket of stamps and the kids enjoyed discovering the different designs.

It's a pretty good start for the year, don't you think??

Red Lights

I started a scarf while while stopped at a red light. By the time I got to my destination, I had finished 2 rows just from the stops along the way! I was fairly happy at my use of otherwise wasted time!
