T brought this home last week and decided to give it to her Daddy for Father's Day. Can you tell which one is the animal?... and do you know what kind of an animal it is? Here's a clue.... don't forget who the artist is!! =o)

What to do?
I wanted to do something to relax and finally decided on tackling some more of my fabric scraps! I really want to try and condense the gajillion bins and bags to just a couple.... yea right! So I pulled out one of them and also the small trash can that has the little tiny bits and pieces...
Here is the start of my "ortwork" according to Nellie Durand. You must see her remarkable masterpieces! One of the things that I especially like about her is her willingness to take time out to reply to an email and to motivate and encourage. It was great to be surprised with her email! =o)
So at this time, I really didn't know what I was going to make. Just kinda going with the pieces that were there and available. Then the browns really started to jump out at me and one of the upholstery fabrics screamed a tree. It really kinda looked like a tree bark... so... this is what it led to.
I ran out of the cremes and dark green but am too lazy to go to garage and get another bin. So this will have to do for tonite.

Purse Liner/Organizer
I don't know about you but I LOVE large carry all bags. I have them in every shape and color. They come in handy since I carry my current to-go craft projects along with my essentials (keys, camera, phone, wallet, pens, etc..) Here's my June bag.

The main problem about my large bags though is that I have so much crap in there that it takes me forever and a day to find anything. With a collection of large totes(because you know we have to change them often to match outfits, the seasons, etc.) with a whole lot of junk in there to sort out, empty and clean out (of which I dont have the time for) it sits there in my closet begging for my attention. And of course, most of the time, I can't find which purse I left something last on the move to the next purse. So here's what I did. I got a piece of already quilted fabric.

Unearthed some of my free upholstery fabrics and sewed them onto the quilted one.

Here it is all sewn in.

I then sewed the ends together.

And VOILA! Here it is installed!

Now I can go from purse to purse without having to re-organize, etc, etc. and I can find things in the large bag much easier. When I decide to move on to the next purse, I just grab the liner and plop it into the next bag. Great upcyling project, huh?!?

Scrap Collage Experiment
All my friends and family knows how I am about being "Green". I can't bear to waste any of the wonderful fabrics, threads, etc. that I accumulate from my quilts and other crafts. I upcycle and recycle alot and so for a while now I have been stumped at what to do with all the itsy bitsy fabric scraps and threads. (My cousin Lala would have told me a long time ago to chuck it in the garbage!) Yesterday, we experimented...
S2 and I started...

As usual, S2 gave up somewhere midway and his sister finished it up for him.

TADA! Here's what we came up with!

I thought that it was a pretty good experiment and although mine was quilted onto an upholstery fabric swatch to hang, I think that I will cut the kids masterpiece and quilt it to make a quilted pillow! Stay tuned for the finished product soon...
In the meanwhile, I've decided to give away the spring collage. Please post comments to enter and I will pick one winner! Good Luck!

I sent off my application to participate at the O'Connell Center 2011 Craft Festival. Although the festival is not judged, you have to be chosen to be one of the more than 300 artists to participate. This year, I am focusing my craft to consist of my quilts and possibly some of Mom K's quilts too, Gator graduation stoles, my upcycled upholstery baskets, Greek pillows and some of my jewelry. I am supposed to hear back from them by mid-June if I am chosen. Keep your fingers crossed! In the meanwhile, I will need to keep myself busy producing my crafts. So I will be placing a whole lot of things in my etsy shop between now and then.
Here are some items that I've been working on the past month.
I have pieced two Gator tshirt quilts.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to long arm quilt next weekend....
I also made a Kappa Delta bolster pillow. I am hoping that all my Greek friends and students will help me advertise! (hint! hint!) =o)

Phew! hopefully all this crafting will help me clear out my craft room! It's a mess in there!!
