Little "Green" Helper

My youngest niece helped me this weekend with recycling my fabric scraps. She was able to make 3 fabric sheets of what would have normally gone to the garbage and eventually at a landfill! Now I can recycle them to use for outfitting my art dolls! =o)

Kappa Kappa Gamma

This is the first KKG pillow that I am putting in my Etsy. So far, I have had a great response from the Kappa Delta and the Delta Gamma sisters. Hopefully, it will be just as good this time around. I guess I can only wait! ;o)

Earring Break

So I haven't been in the mood for sewing for the past couple of nights. But needing to be productive, I decided to make earrings instead. Here are all my jewelry making gear spread out on the table... and a couple more larger bins on the floor...

Notice the tree... I thought that it would be a great earring holder! ;oP

I really got into it and was especially pleased with the help I got from T and S early in the night in designing the earrings. Here are the finished products shortly after midnight!

At work today, one of my co-workers asked me about feather earrings. She said that they are the latest craze. I looked all over for my bin of feathers that I use to make my art dolls and TADA! Here is what I came up with! S had a great time decorating the tree until he ran out of room... It'll be a nice collection to add to my Etsy!

The Sea

S2 came home with his masterpiece today titled "The Sea". "Look Mommy, he says, can you see the jelly fish, and the starfish? and the air bubbles that they make? And the actual hole of the cup is the whirlpool!!" I think it's pretty creative, don't you? It is made out of clay and fired. They made it in art class.

Greek Letters

I sold another one of my Kappa Delta pillows! Except for 2, I've sold every single one of my sorority pillows in my Etsy shop. Woohoo! This one is on its way to its owner! =o)

I've also been able to finish off and send some of my decorative pillows. (Another promised project), Here it is all bundled off before being packaged in the box. I hope they like it!!! =o)

Sedeno Quilt

I am updating my art portfolio and so have asked some of my quilt owners for missing dimensions on the quilts and a picture of them with it. Here's one of them already!

This quilt appropriately named for its owner is 44"x57".

Afternoon Recital

Our afternoon was filled with music as S2 had his annual cello recital. He did wonderfully and we were all so proud of him!!

Promised Project

I woke up early yesterday and was able to get a small project done. My mom had been asking me to make her a quilted pouch for her nipper. I am so glad that I got this done!

Transformations

Last night at around midnight, a caterpillar became a butterfly. I love you Stumpy!

Resolutions

Since I haven't been feeling up to par, I've been planted on the couch reading and re-reading and going through my many favorite blog sites. I have been sooo inspired to design and create!! The one blog that has really kept my interest is Dear Lillie. This woman has me so in awe! Her house is AMAZING!!!! And she has 2 kids!!! WOW! Did I tell you yet that she's amazing??!! So between her blog and Miss Mustard Seed, I am bound to really do something about my own life and surroundings this year. SERIOUSLY.

So first I have to actually write down my resolutions:
1. Organize
2. Create/Design/Beautify
3. Be Healthier
4. Be less fearful of anything computer related.
5. Family

I'm sure there's more but these are the main five. Of course there's alot of bullet points under each one but you get the gist of it.

So to take immediate action on any one of them, I have taken charge of updating my blog site!!! Woohoo! For you that are blogger professionals, you might be shaking your head that there's absolutely nothing fancy about this but if you know me, you would be AMAZED that I am learning this stuff.... BY MYSELF!!

So what do you think so far? There's alot more I need to do especially with fonts and colors and layout but it's a work in progress. Stay tuned for more regular posts this year too. I am going to start including snapshots of pieces of my home! After all, my vignettes are a part of my creativity!

A good friend of mine, Vanessa, tells me that I can actually turn these posts into a book so what a great way to journal!

Follower Give Away!

So one of my resolutions is to be a little more organized. For those that have seen my office at work, they are surely shaking their head that this is not going to happen... But hey, at least I'm going to try! ;oP

So as I try to wade through the room that is called my art studio. I have decided to give away one of the items that I forgot to bring to the Craft show this past December. It is also one of my items that has expired in my Etsy that I have not renewed again. So, I've chosen to give my Omni Style Crocheted Tangerine Scarf to one of my followers, Ambar, who was also my first ever follower to my blog! She was also the one that recommended this blog site to me and helped me get through the initial pangs of anxiety over blogging. Here she is modeling the scarf for me and I wish that I knew how to do a mosaic picture post of all the different ways that she models of how to wear and display this scarf! I think that out of all of my followers, she would appreciate this the most!

Woodland Creatures Quilt Finished!!

I finally finished the "For Melanie" quilt! I have not been feeling well and so there's alot of down time just sitting and lying down to hand sew the binding. Here it is before it went into the package. This is a gift from a new Auntie to her newborn niece. I don't want to ruin the surprise for the new Mommy so I will not post the finished quilt pictures until I know that it has been received.

Pixie Shoes!!!

I received the pixie shoe pattern all the way from England! I am sooo excited to make! I have to adjust the size a little bit though to fit my larger dolls but I think that now I dont have to worry about sculpting toes! =o)
Look how great it was packaged!! She included a handmade fiber art wrapped in tissue with silk ribbon! She even put in some sequins!!! =o)

Body Building

So I finally finished sewing all the body parts together. I will attach the head later after I have finished sculpting it and putting in the hair and head dress. I'm hesitant to put boobs on the body because at the moment, Pixar's face is not looking too feminine... I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm taking a little longer with the face because I am not too motivated to put in all the sculpting details of the eyes. I really want to put eyelids on this doll...

I can't wait for the weekend either so that I can try and finish up the Woodland Creatures Baby Quilt. This project is not too motivating either since I have to fix the fabric backing shortage and then there's the binding.... ugh!

Staying Busy

I finished the quilting on the Woodland Creatures Quilt last night. WOW! It was hard work because of the stop gaps caused by the appliques! But I forged on and got it done! Unfortunately, I started too far down on the backing fabric and ran out so now the quilt will be 2 inches shorter on each side than what I had originally planned. But all is well because I had given it extra inches to start off anyways...
Here it is on the long arm just before quilting.

Here's the back of it after quilting... The blank area is the back of the trunk of the tree. It only appears wrinkled on the picture because of how the quilt is draped on the machine.

Here's the close up of the quilt work. I'm really happy with how it turned out! =o)

I also had a couple of hours between getting back home from quilting and bedtime and wanted to start on Pixar's face. Here's a drawing of her eyes.

Here it is after it was painted. I still have to work on the eye details (eyelids, eyelashes, pupils)...

I also started sculpting some to get a feel of the character and decided to stop because it was looking more and more like Yoda to me. =o(

What do you think? =oP

Last Day

Today is the last day of our holiday break. It was fun spending so much time sewing and crafting. Today I get to do the quilting on the long arm machine for the Woodland Creatures. T and I have also been tossing around names for our pixie. We are thinking of Pixar (a pixie born on the new year). We'll see when I get to sculpting the face. I finished stuffing both the legs and started sculpting the toes. I'm pretty pleased with it. I will start the other foot after I finish stuffing the torso.

Happy New Year!

It has been 2 years today since I've had this blog site! It was my new year's resolution then to be a little more knowledgeable with computers and social networking and I think that I've done a fair enough job with 2 years of postings and a fairly active Etsy shop! Thank you to all of you that follow me and especially leave comments and most of all to those that have purchased some of my creations!! I hope that 2012 brings each and every single one of us much blessings!

Here are the beginnings of a pixie doll that I started making last night waiting for midnight...
