Fsshion Filler #4

Troubling Tuesday
There is alot on my mind this morning since yesterday was full of bad news for me.  =o(
I was busy all day figuring out what to do and how to solve the different dillemmas
that kept popping out of nowhere.
Hopefully, today will be full of solutions and better news!
I also think that I will get a visit from an old friend that is visiting for the day!  =o)

Respite

I am wide awake at 4:30 in the morning but I hate to make alot of noise when everyone in the house is asleep. So I decided to take a break from packing and cleaning and instead try to make a dent in the ga-jillion quilts that I have to make.  Remember the fabrics that I picked out for some quilts here?
Well here is a sneak peek of one I finished piecing!!
This is just a portion of the top half with the baby's name covered (it's a surprise!)  Unfortunately, it's going to have to wait until after my trip to get quilted.  Looking at this quilt makes me happy!  =o)  I dont know what it is about baby quilts but I really do enjoy designing and making them!   =o)

Fashion Filler #1

So what is this all about you ask?  Well there are just some days where there is NOTHING extra special to write about.  However, I do want to stay active with my blog posts.  But what I don't want to do is to be one of those bloggers that repeatedly talks about the same thing but for a change in color design or a pillow.  So in between writing blogs, I'm going to do Fashion Fillers!  ;oP  Now I"m not saying that I'm the perfect model.... FAR FROM IT!  But I do enjoy clothes and putting different outfits together. Maybe my fashion fillers will push me to look/dress better daily!  But ahhhh... such is the life of a busy, working mom!  Enjoy this post and please tell me what you think!

Melanie's Quilt

Remember the Woodlands Creature Quilt (here) that I made over the holiday break?
Click Here to see when I was finishing up the binding and then again here when I mailed it off.
Well she finally sent me a  picture back with Melanie on it!!  =o)

Here are the pictures that I took of the quilt before I sent it to Melanie in January.
I think I wrote the size down in one of my previous post.
This was a custom ordered quilt so it is the largest of all my baby quilts.

Here are some close up of the details.

Cabbage Stats

Can you tell that they are sitting on top of my bathroom scale?!
Now you can see why we had to go to Publix.
The one on the left is T's.  Hers came out really pretty.

So here we were at Publix early the next morning before school weighing the cabbages.
S2's was the clear winner.  His cabbage weighed in at  22 lbs. while hers was only 18 lbs.
They knew that only one of their cabbages would win and have a chance at winning
for the state of Florida.
But then we saw that a previous submission had an entry with 2 names!
Both being siblings.
So, we took a quick picture of the both of them after S2's soccer game while it was still light outside.
Here's the picture that was submitted!
Cross your fingers that they win!!!  =o)

Emergency Harvest!!

Notice anything different??  YUP!  We harvested the cabbages today!  Cabbages are a cold weather plant and the heat was just not working out for this pair.  On top of it all, we found alot of little holes in the leaves which meant a whole lot of creatures were munching....  So, the kids made an emergency call to their cabbage expert.... and when Jaja says harvest, we harvest!

Of course, Mommy had to help and we had to move fast as it was starting to get dark and we had to film document everything and weigh them for submission, etc. etc.

Here they are with the pictures that they will turn in for contest submission.

T's cabbage head is approximately 15" in diameter and S2's is approximately 16" in diameter.  As you can tell, it doesn't matter to T that her brother was definitely the winner between the two.  She was just really proud of her cabbage!

We tried to weigh them using my bathroom scale but the cabbages were too big to get an accurate reading and I wanted a good picture of the cabbages sitting on the scale.  So their weight is going to have to wait until tomorrow.  We will weigh them at Publix and get their true weight.  Stay tuned!
We are all really sad that it is all over.
These cabbages became a part of the family these past couple of months!
