Day 7: Continuing the Tour

According to Brian, our tour guide, there are 6 provinces in the Bicol Region:  Camarines Sur, Camarines Norte(known for their pineapple),  Albay (which has the Mayon volcano),  Catanduanes,  Masbate and Sorsogon.    The smallest edible fish called ”Tabios”  is found in Camarines Sur in Lake Buhi.  The average fish size is 8mm. 

 We passed by Porta Sancta(Holy Door), a structure built in the 18^th century by Franciscan priests. 

We saw Mount Isarog, which is 6489 feet above sea level and is aqua dormant.  I know I took a picture of this but don’t know where it went…  =o(   There were many scenic views and landmarks that made this trip very interesting.   

There were also a lot of none too attractive things like the very many people that you can see peeing EVERYWHERE!  The thing is, it’s not just here in Naga!  It is literally EVERYWHERE in the Philippines!  Despite the many signs of “Bawal Umihi Dito!”  (Peeing is not allowed here!)

We were also passed by a cycling race through the town of Nabua which apparently is quite popular for sponsoring cycling races.

  One thing is for certain, even through this short leg of our tour, the scenes of Naga are spectacular. If I were to give you one word that explains this whole region, it would be “GREEN”. Everything is just so lush and very, very green. I can definitely see why this region is called one of the rice granaries of the Philippines.  I love this place!
