100 Sales and Welcome Phi Mu!

Yesterday, my Etsy reached its 100th sale!

Although I opened shop a handful of years ago, 

it is just the past couple of years that I really started putting more effort 

in production and listing.

I am now licensed for 10 sororities with the newest addition of Phi Mu!

Taking Orders

The Valle quilt is finished and waiting to be shipped to go home.  :)

It is a big quilt at 72" x 96".

I had to hang it down from the 2nd floor balcony.

If you followed the making here, 

you would know that it started out with the mid section first.

The top 2 shirts in light blue backing were from her elementary school.

The one shirt with the yellow backing is from her middle school

and the shirts with the grey backing are from her highschool.

The 6 shirts in the mid section are from her college.

The lone shirt on the bottom is post college.

The four extra shirts flanking the bottom sides were added after 

to complete her college experience. 

It was hard to capture the quilting from far..

But here it is up close with some light justification to see the design more clearly.

With this completed, I am now again taking orders.

V Custom TShirt Quilt

Remember when I told you about this box that I received full of tshirts?
If you follow me on my facebook you would have seen my post when I received it.

Well, it is a custom order quilt with tshirts
from the client's elementary school through her college years.

She had it boxed up in a closet 

and made the great decision of having them made into a quilt!  :)

Soon she will be displaying it out to be admired 

instead of  it being hdden in the closet and forgotten.

What a fantastic way to reminisce and see her past accomplishments!

I finished piecing the tshirts

...and spent most of the day quilting on the long arm.

Now it's the laborious task of hand sewing the binding.

UGH!

Bedside Sewing

S2 has a concussion.  :(

Doc says rest only.

I spent most of the day doing 2 things.

1.  Arguing with him about keeping still.

 2.  Feeding him.

He can't be too sick if he is eating this much!

 But I was able to do the finishing stitches on the pillows I started this weekend.

Wisconsin Kappa Kappa Gamma

There is absolutely no greater feeling for a vendor

than to have a customer that is happy.

There is also something to be said for having 

such a pleasant customer to work with.

It really makes all the hard work and extra care all worth it!  ;)

Her name is Alicia and she was in charge of getting the gifts 

for her sisters that were graduating.

I was pleasantly surprised at receiving an email from her.

And it really was wonderful to receive!

I was especially touched at the picture she sent.

Re-Stocking

Last week's bulk order really put a big dent in my Etsy inventory!  ;)

So I've taken advantage of the long weekend to replenish.

Between the many tasks that I wanted to knock off on the chores list, 

it's nice to feel somewhat accomplished.
Chore list is still lengthy though.

But I also have to thank that stupendous pouring of rain yesterday

 that allowed me to sit in my favorite chair and just sew.

Bulk Order

I have been non-stop for the past couple of weeks

So posting on the blog has been difficult.

My cousin from England came to visit for a spell....

Then it has been crazy busy with the start of school at the day job...

And I got my first bulk order!!!

I have been sewing like craaaaazy!  

But I'm so excited!

Woohoo!  Hope the bulk requests keep coming!  ;)

I'm actually running out of my blue fabrics in my bottomless stash of material.

Tashi's Treats Closing...(for now)

For those of you that don't know, T started her philanthropy project last year about this time.

It was a fairly large project for a 9 year old 

and I had my doubts but we could not be more proud of her.

Started because of her love for animals (and especially dogs ;))

she found a way of raising awareness and raising money for 

the different local animal shelters.

She started her own blog (click here to take you to Tashi's Treats blog)

to write about her project and experiences and about the need to help raise awareness for animals.

She also opened her own Etsy shop (click here) 

where she sold her own made pocket hearts.

with proceeds going to the different local shelters.

She did wonderfully with her fundraising.

But then learned quickly about disappointments. =o(

For us, her parents, she has more than met our expectations.  

Truly surprising us by what she has done and how long she stayed committed.

She showed her creativity by designing her own logo and trademark.

She also learned the logistics of opening a business

and the hard work that goes into it.

She has learned amazing online skills.

Photography

As well as marketing and business skills, to name a few.

But above all,

She has learned so much about life and love.

For now, she has put Tashi's Treats aside as she concentrates on her school work.

...and hopefully she will pick up this project again in

 the near future.

We would like to clear out her remaining pocket hearts and present the proceeds

to the Alachua County Humane Society 

which was the last shelter that she had promised to raise money for.

We have marked the hearts down considerably for faster movement.

Please support her as she tries to clear out her inventory.

Kappa Kappa Gamma

This is the first KKG pillow that I am putting in my Etsy. So far, I have had a great response from the Kappa Delta and the Delta Gamma sisters. Hopefully, it will be just as good this time around. I guess I can only wait! ;o)
