Love and Passion Completed!

Do you remember when I posted this inspiration piece?
I talked about it click here.
(I'm sorry I cannot credit the designer as it was a picture that was sent to me.)

When I received the picture,
I was not surprised at all with the colors that she chose.
As soon as I saw it, I immediately thought of love and passion.
Very "her".
So here is my interpretation.

For those that don't know,
I have been making keepsake bouquets for a while now...

This one was especially fun since it is not the typical colors.

She got married the past weekend.

Congratulations C and O!!!
Many, many blessings to both of you!

Belated Birthday Blues

I honestly didn't have a story or a quote about this post.
Not because there aren't any...
but because I just do not know what to pick
out of all that is out there....

ACB is one of my dearest friends.
He is family.

The reasoning for this coverlette is another story onto itself.
But I will let him tell you that story himself...

Blue is his favorite color.
This crochet project covers a queen size bed.

It took me 9 months to make.
 I think he likes it.
What do you think?

"My Strength is Trust"

“For me, trees have always been the most penetrating preachers. I revere them when they live in tribes and families, in forests and groves. And even more I revere them when they stand alone. They are like lonely persons. Not like hermits who have stolen away out of some weakness, but like great, solitary men, like Beethoven and Nietzsche. In their highest boughs the world rustles, their roots rest in infinity; but they do not lose themselves there, they struggle with all the force of their lives for one thing only: to fulfill themselves according to their own laws, to build up their own form, to represent themselves. Nothing is holier, nothing is more exemplary than a beautiful, strong tree.

When a tree is cut down and reveals its naked death-wound to the sun,
one can read its whole history in the luminous, inscribed disk of its trunk:
in the rings of its years, its scars, all the struggle, all the suffering, all the sickness,
all the happiness and prosperity stand truly written,
the narrow years and the luxurious years,
the attacks withstood, the storms endured.
And every young farm boy knows that the hardest and noblest wood has the narrowest rings,
that high on the mountains and in continuing danger the most indestructible,
the strongest, the ideal trees grow.

Trees are sanctuaries.
Whoever knows how to speak to them,
whoever knows how to listen to them, can learn the truth.
They do not preach learning and precepts,
they preach, undeterred by particulars, the ancient law of life.

A tree says: A kernel is hidden in me, a spark, a thought,
I am life from eternal life.
The attempt and the risk that the eternal mother took with me is unique,
unique the form and veins of my skin,
unique the smallest play of leaves in my branches and the smallest scar on my bark.
I was made to form and reveal the eternal in my smallest special detail.
A tree says: My strength is trust.
I know nothing about my fathers,
I know nothing about the thousand children that every year spring out of me.
I live out the secret of my seed to the very end, and I care for nothing else.
I trust that God is in me. I trust that my labor is holy.
Out of this trust I live.

When we are stricken and cannot bear our lives any longer,
then a tree has something to say to us: Be still! Be still! Look at me!
Life is not easy, life is not difficult.
Those are childish thoughts.
Let God speak within you, and your thoughts will grow silent.
You are anxious because your path leads away from mother and home.
But every step and every day lead you back again to the mother.
Home is neither here nor there.
Home is within you, or home is nowhere at all.

A longing to wander tears my heart when I hear trees rustling in the wind at evening.
If one listens to them silently for a long time, this longing reveals its kernel, its meaning.
It is not so much a matter of escaping from one's suffering, though it may seem to be so.
It is a longing for home, for a memory of the mother, for new metaphors for life.
 It leads home.
Every path leads homeward, every step is birth, every step is death, every grave is mother.

So the tree rustles in the evening, when we stand uneasy before our own childish thoughts:
Trees have long thoughts, long-breathing and restful, just as they have longer lives than ours.
They are wiser than we are, as long as we do not listen to them.
But when we have learned how to listen to trees,
then the brevity and the quickness
and the childlike hastiness of our thoughts achieve an incomparable joy.
Whoever has learned how to listen to trees no longer wants to be a tree.
He wants to be nothing except what he is.
That is home.
That is happiness.”

Live Life Happy

Life is just like painting.
Draw the lines with hope.
Erase the errors with tolerance.
Dip the brush with lots of patience...
And color it with love.
                                   (livelifehappy.com)

I Was in the mood to paint today.
Third time painting EVER.

I painted two canvases.
both salvaged.
It was nice not to have to think about anything...
Here's the picture inspiration for the second painting.
It's K Manor.
I just let my hands do the thinking.
and it created this....

Life is full or rewards. :)

The Little Things...

This is one of my birthday presents.
...from a dear friend.

It came with a set of green wine glasses too.

I have been enjoying myself coloring it
while I sip on some wine.
It's very relaxing.

She's right about one thing though...
alot of the joys in life are in the little things.<3 p="">

From Here to There

K Manor is has its own 100+ acre woods.  :)
We are lucky enough to be bordered on the back by a state preserve.
We have all the wonderful goodness of having our own little forest.

But what forest doesn't have its scary story..... its eerie stuff... its creepy crawlies?
This is also the reason why the first thing that went up
after building K Manor was the dog run.
Well there is this small little path that takes you from the manor to the run.

But it needed much attention.
I blogged about it here 4 years ago...

The ground at a certain part had already sunken in from the heavy traffic.
We had to get some dirt from other parts to fill it in.
Here's the hubs with that task.  :)

Well I've had this path on my project list for a while now.
And I finally started working on it.

I only got halfway done...

but it is looking better already....

What do you think?

Creative Space

Remember last year when I posted the status of the garage?
I talked about it here.

Well there is still quite alot to do...
but at least it is now navigable.

We have even been able to sit around the table together
and use it as an actual studio place!

It is slowly coming together!
What do you all think?

Eleanor's Quilt

I finally got a chance to finish Eleanor's quilt!
I finished the quilting before Thanksgiving
but could never find the time to sew the binding.
I was finally able to catch up right before Christmas
and made a fast dash to mail it so that she can receive it for Christmastime.

Pardon the center fold as I had already packed it to mail and
had to unpack it real quick just to get a quick picture.

My cousin texted me this picture as soon as she received it and
I am so glad that she likes it!  ;)
Now if I can get to the other quilts in queue that are just as late!  O_O

Jax's Quilt

Early in 2015, I got a commission for a custom baby quilt.
Although the order was placed in the first quarter of the year,
I was not able to really put work on it until much later.

I told you about it in this post when I purchased the fabric.
It was ordered for a Christmas present.

Now that it has been received, I can tell you all about it.  :)
This quilt order came with all the photos that had to be incorporated into the quilt.

I am so glad that she gave me the okay to change her initial quilt design!
I  think that this turned out real well, don't you?

What about you?

Happy Mother's Day!

Hope all of you mothers are being spoiled today!  💙💙

Speaking of mothers, I guess it is quilt season for me with all these baby quilts!
But it is a good kind of busy since I love to make them!
They allow me to design a little more with the fabrics
and I love the bright primary colors for the little ones.
Here is my design layout for this new quilt
Stay tuned for the progress!!

Taking Orders

The Valle quilt is finished and waiting to be shipped to go home.  :)
It is a big quilt at 72" x 96".
I had to hang it down from the 2nd floor balcony.

If you followed the making here
you would know that it started out with the mid section first.
(taken without flash)

The top 2 shirts in light blue backing were from her elementary school.
The one shirt with the yellow backing is from her middle school
and the shirts with the grey backing are from her highschool.
The 6 shirts in the mid section are from her college.
The lone shirt on the bottom is post college.
The four extra shirts flanking the bottom sides were added after
to complete her college experience.

It was hard to capture the quilting from far..

But here it is up close with some light justification to see the design more clearly.

With this completed, I am now again taking orders.
Click here and it will take you to my Etsy
where it will tell you about my policies and fees.
These make wonderful gifts for a lifetime.
For all of you athletes with all of your competition shirts,
these are a great way to preserve them and show them off too!
For all of you moms, all of your little one's sports tees would make
an awesome quilt souvenir that can be displayed!

Hit me up either through my Etsy here...
or email me at eckdesign2@(at)gmail.com

I'd love to make your memory quilt!  :)
Hope to hear from you soon!
