Anniversary/Vow Renewal Quilt

Last week I was honored to have been invited
to a vow renewal ceremony of two wonderful friends.
The ceremony was also the day before their 30th anniversary.

Of course I wanted to make them an anniversary quilt.

Their invitation was in reds and creams with just a tad of green for leaves.

I knew that I was going to make a heart...
and of course it is to be designed free.... and without a pattern.

a little wonky...  but good enough.  ;)

Choosing the fabrics for the milestone pictures to go along with the heart was a little tough.

But I think it turned out pretty okay.

The pictures I chose are of the two of them through the years.
Added by a couple of milestone events.

I know that they already received and opened it.
Which is why I am blogging about it now. ;)

It is quilted together with hearts and the word love throughout.

I really enjoyed making this quilt.

Even the binding wasn't too bad... LOL

Here's the back.  I didnt cut off my son smiling at the top holding the corner.;)

Turned out pretty good I think..

Not bad for not having a pattern!

Finished Quilt:   77" x 79"

M J G Custom Quilt

As you can see by his birth date,
he just received the quilt for his first birthday.

I think he likes it!
What do you think?

***

This quilt order started out as an email as so:

Hi Ellen!
Here are the pictures that I could find of him as a little baby (only 4 of him by himself)
and then the 1 picture of XX and I with him can be used on the back of the quilt.
His full name is XXX  XXX  XXX and was born on June 13th 2016.

Colors navy blue, Kelly green and gray please!
Let me know what else you need :)

Thank you!

I then printed out the photo transfers
and chose the fabrics based on her color request.

Then decided on the design layout.
As you can see, I had a couple of layout options.

When I decided on what looked pleasing enough
then it was time to piece and then on to the quilting.

Here's the back.
Sorry for the smudging but I wanted to honor their privacy...  ;)

Finished Quilt:  ( I lost dimensions! Will post as soon as I receive. )
Special shout out to the hubs for being patient
as he stretched and tip toed while he held the quilt for my photo shoot!

Betty-Boop's Quilt

Over 12 years ago, Betty started at the day job...

The minute I met her, we were instant friends.

She is a person full of love and energy with an extra dose of craziness! ;)

There isn't much that I couldn't talk with her about...
and we sure did alot of crazy things over the years....

She is one of the few that has the biggest heart.
Last year she retired.

And it has taken me a whole year to make her her quilt.

She was ever so patient.

But I am glad to have finally given it to her.

Eleanor's Quilt

I finally got a chance to finish Eleanor's quilt!
I finished the quilting before Thanksgiving
but could never find the time to sew the binding.
I was finally able to catch up right before Christmas
and made a fast dash to mail it so that she can receive it for Christmastime.

Pardon the center fold as I had already packed it to mail and
had to unpack it real quick just to get a quick picture.

My cousin texted me this picture as soon as she received it and
I am so glad that she likes it!  ;)
Now if I can get to the other quilts in queue that are just as late!  O_O

Jax's Quilt

Early in 2015, I got a commission for a custom baby quilt.
Although the order was placed in the first quarter of the year,
I was not able to really put work on it until much later.

I told you about it in this post when I purchased the fabric.
It was ordered for a Christmas present.

Now that it has been received, I can tell you all about it.  :)
This quilt order came with all the photos that had to be incorporated into the quilt.

I am so glad that she gave me the okay to change her initial quilt design!
I  think that this turned out real well, don't you?

What about you?

Greys & Blues

Lots of sewing being done in the PM lately.
Between soccer and piano, we haven't been at home much.
Really glad for the extra day (because of homecoming) to get a day off from work.

I worked on this lovely grey and blue commissioned quilt.
Sorry the pictures are dark but this is best that I can do at night.

The client wanted pictures on it,
and what an ordeal I had with printing on the photo transfers!
Did you know that most of the copy places no longer have real ink?

The ink discovery made me nervous
since I wanted to make sure that the images don't fade too much over time.
So we printed and reprinted on the old inkjet...
For you crafters out there, you may want to hang on to your inkjet printers!
(The photo transfers have been blurred purposely for privacy...)

The weather here in Florida is still hot, muggy and rainy.
So it does not surprise me that T is sick...
Am glad for another day at home for me, though...

Stay tuned for the completed quilt.
I sent it off today.
Hope they like it!

Happy Mother's Day!

Hope all of you mothers are being spoiled today!  💙💙

Speaking of mothers, I guess it is quilt season for me with all these baby quilts!
But it is a good kind of busy since I love to make them!
They allow me to design a little more with the fabrics
and I love the bright primary colors for the little ones.
Here is my design layout for this new quilt
Stay tuned for the progress!!

Taking Orders

The Valle quilt is finished and waiting to be shipped to go home.  :)
It is a big quilt at 72" x 96".
I had to hang it down from the 2nd floor balcony.

If you followed the making here,
you would know that it started out with the mid section first.
(taken without flash)

The top 2 shirts in light blue backing were from her elementary school.
The one shirt with the yellow backing is from her middle school
and the shirts with the grey backing are from her highschool.
The 6 shirts in the mid section are from her college.
The lone shirt on the bottom is post college.
The four extra shirts flanking the bottom sides were added after
to complete her college experience.

It was hard to capture the quilting from far..

But here it is up close with some light justification to see the design more clearly.

With this completed, I am now again taking orders.
Click here and it will take you to my Etsy
where it will tell you about my policies and fees.
These make wonderful gifts for a lifetime.
For all of you athletes with all of your competition shirts,
these are a great way to preserve them and show them off too!
For all of you moms, all of your little one's sports tees would make
an awesome quilt souvenir that can be displayed!

Hit me up either through my Etsy here...
or email me at eckdesign2@(at)gmail.com

I'd love to make your memory quilt!  :)
Hope to hear from you soon!

BH Quilt Inspiration

With just ONE graduation stole left to do...
WHEW!
and a custom tshirt quilt waiting to ship,
I can now start the designs on a very custom
scrap and tshirt quilt combo for a dear friend.
Here's my inspiration.
by fancytiger on Flickr

I'm kinda excited about working with alot of colors!  :)
I sure am going to have alot of cutting and piecing to do...
but I'll certainly be cutting down on my stash...
and the straight stitching will be quite therapeutic.
Stay tuned for the process!
